Department members at the 2024 Maine Science Festival, March 20-24
The Department is involved in many activities and events as part of the 2024 Maine Science Festival. This is an annual event celebrating the science (interpreted broadly) happening across Maine. All events are free and open to the public, and are geared for all ages. The program can be found here.
- Wednesday, March 20, 6:30pm, Seasons Restaurant, Main St., Bangor: MSF Trivia – News & Brews Takeover (Science Trivia), moderated by John Thompson
- Thursday, March 21, 6:30pm, Mason’s Brewing Company, Brewer: Science on Tap presents: Senses, featuring physics alum Justin Brown ’20 representing the VEMI Lab as a presenter
- Saturday, March 23, 11:15am-12:15pm, Cross Insurance Center Meeting Room D, Bangor: Music & Sound: Instruments, Timbre, Harmonics, & Distortion, moderated by Mac Stetzer
- Saturday, March 23, 11:15am-12:15pm, Cross Insurance Center Meeting Rooms 1 & 2: Total Solar Eclipse – April 8th of 2024, with Shawn Laatsch and Nikita Saini as two of the presenters
- Saturday, March 23, 9am – 4pm, Cross Insurance Center Ballroom: Safe Solar Viewing & Eclipse Watching, featuring graduate students Andrew Teller and Brenda Jones, and undergraduates Mackenzie Jones, Avery Richard, and Ethan Suderley, representing the department and the Versant Power Astronomy Center
