Neil Comins developing “What If” scenarios for Minecraft in new NSF grant

Prof. Neil Comins is part of a new collaboration to use the video game Minecraft to motivate interest in STEM using scenarios based on his popular “What If?” books, “What If the Moon Didn’t Exist?” and “What If the Earth Had Two Moons?”  Thanks to Prof. Comins and graduate student Zach Smith, middle-school students will be able to pose their own scenarios and see how they play out in the world of Minecraft.

The project, based at the University of Illinois, is part of a $2.7M project to hook middle school students into STEM using Minecraft.

A press release about the initiative and Prof. Comins’s involvement can be found here.
